Mapping Distances
The students will learn how to interpret the map key and determine distances from city to city.

English Unit Review
The student will read and demonstrate comprehension of a variety of fictional texts, narrative nonfiction, and poetry.

Grammar
While this standard is the end goal, the purpose of this week’s Grammar Rule is to insure that all students have the foundational skill of writing a complete sentence. We will begin using clauses and modifiers with next week’s rule.

Article Activity
The purpose of the Article of the week is for students to consistently practice and apply all SOLs that relate to nonfiction reading skills. Therefore, while all SOLs are addressed, they are explicitly taught elsewhere in the curriculum not through the AOW.)
Soil Particles and Textures
To identify the amounts of soil particles that make up the texture of soils, and how different minerals change the layer.

Jar, soil(from different locations), water, permanent marker, spade or some type of digging items
The Earths Water Content
To Become familiar with the amount of water on the earth and a comparison of the amount of water that is a usable resource.

Reading Topographic Maps
The student will gain an understanding of topographic maps and demonstrate their basic understanding of how to read a topographic map.
