Class: Dual Enrollment British Literature II—seniors in their second semester, sophomore level college course
Students will KNOW the characteristics of the Metaphysical and the Romantic periods in British literature. Students will UNDERSTAND the shift in philosophy from one period to another and how that shift evolves in the poetry of the time. Students will EXPLAIN/ANALYZE the differences in philosophies by answering open/high level questions about society, intellect, religion, and marriage.
The purpose of this experiment is to produce a standard pH color chart to be used in determining the pH of several household products.
This lesson will introduce the concept of pH and pOH that are required to be recognized by students for the SOL. Water quality test will be incorporated for students to gain valuable laboratory skills and on-site laboratory skills using traditional methods and probeware methods. Traditional laboratory and probeware methods are required to be understood by the students for the SOL. STEM will be incorporated by the use of Lego robots. This lesson requires students to be outside of the classroom at a water source near the school.
This lesson will introduce concepts in physics using the FIRST Robotics parts. Measuring distance the projectile covered, time the projectile was in the air, and height of a robot, students will calculate the initial velocity of the projectile launched from the robot. Through these lessons students learn to build and program a FIRST Robot in two cooperative groups. In this lesson students learn important STEM and problem solving skills.
This lesson will introduce concepts in physics using the Mindstorm Lego Robots. Measuring distance, velocity, and acceleration of a robotic car. Through these lessons students learn to build and program a LEGO Robotic Car in cooperative groups and measure and graph its distance, velocity, and acceleration. In this lesson students learn important STEM and problem solving skills.

This lesson will introduce concepts in nuclear chemistry using the Mindstorm Lego Robots. Gamma, alpha, beta, and electron capture decays are covered. The mathematics of half life will be discussed and calculated from various radioactive sources. Nuclear decays and half life are concepts that students must master for the chemistry end of course SOL.
