Formal Elements of Design

This assignment is given in my Concepts and Criticism class in the first quarter. The class has 9th and 10th grade students, all have been identified as gifted in the Visual Arts. The introduction to the assignment will take 1 class, 1 class studio work day, and 2-3 classes for critique, depending on number of students. Allow for in-depth critique. (classes are 1 hour)

Figure Drawing and Anatomy Assignment

The following lesson is for my gifted Visual Arts students, grades 9-12. It demonstrates differentiation (Collins, 2016) and student grouping based on ability and interest (Doubet, 2016).

Drawing From Observation

The following lesson is for my Visual Arts students, grades 9-12, all have been identified as gifted in the Visual Arts. The introduction to the assignment and pre-assessment will take 1 class, 2 class studio work days with objects from the list available to draw, and 2-3 classes for critique, depending on number of students. Allow for in-depth critique. (classes are 1 hour)

Create a Bobble Head

The student will design and create a bobble head in a small group which will represent Skippyjon Jones’ foe using the design brief for direction and guidance.

 

Art History: Mannerism

Student will create a work of art based on movement in Art History such as Mannerism.

 

Pre-assessment: The students are asked to list the concepts of Mannerism. A list is composed on the board. Students will discuss the artists that they learned about and will discuss distinguishing features to each of the artist’s work.
